PCB Introduction and Categories

A printed circuit board (PCB) is the board base for physically supporting and wiring the surface-mounted and socketed electronic components in most electronics. Components (e.g.   capacitors ,   resistors   or active devices) are generally   soldered   on the PCB. Due to decades' development, PCBs have been constantly contributing to the improvement and progress of people's modern life. PCBs can be classified into different categories according to different classification standards. Based on the number of layers, PCBs can be classified into single-layer PCBs (also called single-sided PCBs), double-layer PCBs (also called double-sided PCBs) and multilayer PCBs (such as four layers board, twenty-four layers board etc.). Based on the rigid-flex properties of the substrate material, PCBs can be classified into rigid PCBs, flexible PCBs and flex-rigid PCBs. Based on application fields, PCBs can be divided into low-frequency PCBs and high-frequency PCBs. With the development of te

What is HDI PCB? Why?

High density interconnect (HDI) is a technology that is becoming prevalent in PCB design and integration into electronic products of all kinds. HDI is a technology that provides for a much denser construction on a board by the ability to place increasingly smaller components in closer proximity, which also results in shorter paths between components. The evolution of high density PCB technology has given engineers greater design freedom and flexibility than ever before.   HDI PCBs are finding their way into a growing number of products: •      Smartphones and Computers  – intelligent mobile phones ,tablet computers and other wearable devices are taking full advantage of smaller profiles, reduced weight, and increased functionality, made possible through the integration of HDI circuits. •      Communications devices and Medical equipment – smaller space requirements and light weight are ideal for such applications. Diagnostic and monitoring equipment has become more reliabl

How To Learn PCB Assembly Cost?

How to calculate  PCB assembly  cost, many electronic manufacturers will look for quotation from processing manufacturers before outsourcing the processing services. In fact, they will still have a lot of doubts about the final quotations, so we are going to conduct a comprehensive cost analysis of PCB assembly. First, Required Material Costs Before Assembly According to the customer’s BOM list, the purchasing department of the processing firm will make an inquiry, including PCB bare board, electronic parts, etc. Sometimes, assembly costs and engineering costs will be included in purchasing quotation. It needs to cover about 5% of the material loss when purchasing the components, due to the reason of material loss, like resistance and capacitance disk loading material and SMT chip. For the small batch of PCBA, engineering costs are usually covered in quotation, including the costs of processing file, stencil, Changing SMT line etc. Then, Solder Joint Counting PCB assembly
